The Moment Didi Knew

When she smiled at me for the first time.

When she kissed the scar left by my ankle surgery.

When she offered me the last scoop of her favorite ice cream.

When she laughed at my funniest joke.

When she didn’t laugh at every one of my jokes.

When she stood up to coach and said that I was not, under any circumstances, to play on a wrapped ankle for at least 6 weeks (and he obeyed).

When she held the umbrella way over her own head just to make sure I was covered.

When she called me “BabyD” for the first time.

When she met (and won over) my parents.

When she wrote me a love letter for the first time.

When she surprised me for Christmas with a plane ticket to visit.

When she sang “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling'” to me just like Tom Cruise did in Top Gun.

When she agreed to wear my ring.

When she tells me she loves me too.

“That’s the moment I knew I was in love with Sue. Yep, that was it, for sure. You can quote me,” Didi smiles at the reporter.
